Giving Back to Nature: Crab Release at Rayong’s Estuary
A hands-on sustainability activity during our Rayong company outing, where colleagues learned about the local estuary ecosystem and took part in a crab release supporting conservation efforts.

On 23 January 2026, during Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients Thailand’s company outing to Rayong, our team took part in a meaningful CSR activity at HTMS Prasae Memorial Park, learning about the local estuary ecosystem and contributing directly to its preservation.

The visit began with a short introduction by park staff, who shared insights into the importance of estuaries as natural nurseries for marine life. Estuaries play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity, supporting fisheries, and protecting coastal environments — making them an essential part of a healthy ecosystem.

A Hands-On Experience
Each colleague was given a crab — some small, some impressively large — and invited to release it into the estuary. While the activity was simple, it quickly became memorable. A few of the crabs proved to be quite adventurous, attempting to crawl out of their baskets before release. One even made a brief escape, prompting quick (and careful) action from the park rangers.

Thankfully, no one was pinched — despite clear warnings about the strength of those claws — and all crabs were safely returned to the water, unharmed. Laughter, curiosity, and a bit of nervous excitement filled the moment, making the experience both educational and fun.

Why It Matters
Releasing crabs into the estuary helps support natural reproduction cycles and contributes to restoring marine populations in the area. Activities like this may seem small, but they play an important role in maintaining ecological balance and raising awareness about environmental stewardship.

For Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients, sustainability is not only about policies and targets — it’s also about practical action and shared responsibility. By engaging directly with nature and local conservation efforts, we strengthen our understanding of how environmental health connects to long-term business and community wellbeing.

As part of our ongoing sustainability journey, experiences like this remind us that meaningful impact often starts with simple actions — taken together.
