Highlights from "Beyond the Brush - Innovative Oral Care Solutions"
In collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and supported by several esteemed partners, Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients Singapore and Malaysia recently hosted the "Beyond the Brush: Innovative Oral Care Solutions" seminar. This hybrid event featured both a seminar and an in-person workshop, showcasing innovations in oral care and hygiene.
Innovations and Beyond
On August 22, we hosted an oral care event, "Beyond the Brush," at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, partnering with suppliers like Greenin Bio-Tech, Evonik, and Oryza Oil & Fat Chemical. The event focused on the latest advancements in oral care, emphasising sustainable and ethical manufacturing.
Sharings from the Experts
The morning seminar featured market trends and product insights from our principals and our own experts, followed by an afternoon hands-on session where attendees created their own sample formulations.
Our Personal Care Lab team, Miss Orranit Yodjan and Miss Nichakan Saengpetch, introduced the event, presenting an overview of current oral care trends and ingredients. Presentations from our principals followed, covering Greenin Bio-Tech’s Greeniov-Senskin II, Evonik’s Zeodent® and Spherilex® dental silica solutions, and Oryza Oil & Fat Chemical’s natural extracts like SalivaMoist™ and perilla seed extract.
Hands-On Lab Session
After the seminar, the event transitioned into an interactive hands-on workshop held in the laboratory. Guided by our team of specialists, participants had the chance to formulate three different oral hygiene products using ingredients from Greenin Bio-Tech, Evonik, and Oryza Oil & Fat Chemical. The workshop was supported by advanced lab equipment provided by IKA, ensuring participants could work with precision and efficiency during the formulation process.
Pump-it-right Toothpaste: This session focused on pump toothpaste formulations, which have been gaining popularity, particularly in children's and pet toothpaste, due to their lower viscosity and ease of handling.
Gargle Glow Mouthwash: Participants were encouraged to explore creative formulations with various natural ingredients presented during the seminar, such as our Oryza's liquorice and Sichuan pepper extracts, to develop innovative mouthwash products.
See-through Smile Toothpaste: This session emphasised returning to basics, guiding participants through the creation of a classic white toothpaste using a recommended formulation.
We were delighted to see our participants enjoying themselves and making friends as they created these formulations in small groups.
Sustainability Beyond the Brush
The event also highlighted natural extracts, aligning with our sustainability focus at Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients. We aim to inspire participants to consider greener ingredients in their future formulations.
Feedback from Participants
Participants expressed their interest in learning about new ingredients and sustainable practices. Many were particularly impressed with the natural products, like liquorice extract for dental care.
